My homage to Cyd Charisse in “Bandwagon”

Here I present my homage to Cyd Charisse in “Bandwagon”, and the beautiful dress she wore in the film, an early 1950s style cocktail dress in beautiful emerald silk dupion with corded lace and shimmery net tulle overlay on the bodice and tulle overlay on the skirt. The sweetheart neckline features a lovely and very flattering illusion detail in tulle covering the bodice on the front and back. It also has 3/4 length sleeves and ballet length skirt that were very popular in the era. Fastens with a zipper at the back.

A little treat I made for myself: an early 1930s inspired stripey dress

This gorgeous early 1930s style number in white and navy viscose rayon was just something I had to try. Being a big fan of stripey and check fabrics cut in contrasting panels, this clearly represents the popular cuts of the era. Very geometric art deco in style featuring a large collar, yet another classic of the 1930s, a v-shaped insert on the bodice , both front and back and the triangular pockets. It also has vintage bakelite buttons and buckle in navy.

With side snap fastening.

An early 1940s darling

Here I present a lovely early 1940s inspired dress in original vintage floral rayon gathered bodice, front and back, collar and the skirt. The light brick coloured yokes and belt in viscose rayon add a great contrast. It features an original vintage bakelite buckle.

It also features fabric covered buttons down the front, padded shoulders and elbow length sleeves.

With zipper fastening.

Early 1920s style hunting outfit with jacket and jodhpurs

Here I present an early 1920s style jacket and jodhpurs combo making for a fetching hunting outfit. The jacket is made of a lovely basket weave wool blend fabric and the jodhpurs are in cotton needlecord. The slanted side pockets and the square breast pocket on the jacket make a nice design detail. The wide belt fastening the military style jacket also makes this rather masculine style a bit more feminine. The corduroy jodhpurs which were so popular for leisure wear are high waisted with vintage button closure at the sides and the legs. The balloon style legs give freedom of movement.

Early 1950s style lovely in original vintage cotton

This beautiful early 1950s inspired dress in original 1950s embroidered cotton is a great example of the more streamlined silhouette of the era. It features an interesting zigzag style panelling with a gathered yoke on the bodice and kick pleat down centre of the skirt. Short upturned sleeves, pockets with button closure. With vintage buttons and buckle. Fastens with a zip at side seam.

Early 1930s printed cotton lovely

This lovely early 1930s style printed cotton dress must be the culmination of the art deco loveliness of the era. With it’s contrasting bottle green insert intersecting with the main fabric of the dress and the large navy square bakelite buttons create a beautiful effect along with the geometric cut along the bodice and the skirt. It also features bell sleeves and a contrasting belt in bottle green cotton with an original vintage bakelite belt buckle and snap fasteners at the side.

Mid-1930s day dress

This lovely mid-1930s style novelty print rayon crepe dress is quite the eye- catcher.

With a large pointed collar, very fashionable of the era, and the panel in the bodice with a contrasting black rayon crepe insert adds an interesting detail to the dress.

The 3/4 length puff sleeves , gathered at the hem also add an rather interesting touch.

The dress has a kick pleat at the front of the skirt, and a belt with black crepe contrasting piping and a beautiful Art Deco cream/yellow buckle.

Snap fasteners at the side and hook and eye closure at the back of neck.
